Around eleven years back in 2005, Javed ran away from home due to the poverty in his family. He was given shelter by ‘Deepalaya’ an NGO that takes care of street children.

Four years later in 2009, Javed was moved to Tara Homes, another NGO offering a residential service with an emphasis on education for children and young adults in need of care and protection. A bright and diligent boy, Javed studied at St. Mary’s School, Safdarjang New Delhi.

Last year, Javed fell sick and was getting tired everyday with breathlessness. As fate would have it, Javed’s health started deteriorating and he was diagnosed with Sinus Bradycardia a disease where the heart beat becomes unusually slow. Tara Homes was trying to take care of Javed to their best possible capability but this required huge expenditure on the treatment.

On 16 August 2015, Javed was hospitalized in emergency in Max Hospital Saket for severe seizure episodes. It was then that the NGO approached Max India Foundation and was assured help to treat the child. Javed indeed suffered from a life threatening malformation and a pacemaker implantation was the only option to save his life. Supported by Max India Foundation, he underwent dual chamber pacemaker implantation on August 17, which saved his life.

A few weeks after the surgery, Javed went back to school and was soon fit to participate in all activities. This year Javed passed his Class 12 Board Exam with 79.25% marks. He is currently working as a sports adviser at a renowned sports equipment company and has applied for BA in Tourism Management.
